RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: Better Late Than NEVER...

Jameslast, You're sure the RCMP has been investigating? Or is it just that the OSC has referred the matter to the RCMP? That's what the release said, so are you sure the RCMP is investigating? Matters can be referred and if they don't see a prospect of conviction, or if they don't deem it a fraud, they may not proceed with an investigation.

If there is a massive Fraud, they can issue an international warrant and the crown can ask for that warrant to be extended. If Hong Kong and China want any credibility when dealing with possible fraud allegations, something many china based companies have been accused of recently, I believe they will cooperate. The future of other such companies will be determined by the cooperation from China. Right now several companies are suspect and this will harm China's economy.

If you don't think people are extradited on international warrants for fraud... here is one such case:

On arriving in Canada in 2001, the Némeths, a couple of Roma ethnic origin, applied for refugee status for themselves and their children, alleging that acts of violence had been committed against them in their country of origin, Hungary. In 2002, the Némeths and their children were granted refugee status and they later became permanent residents. Years later, Hungary issued an international arrest warrant in respect of a charge of fraud that had been laid against the Némeths and requested Canada to extradite them. The Minister of Justice eventually ordered their surrender for extradition and the decision was upheld on review by the Court of Appeal.

So don't pretend that if there is a Fraud that no one will, without a doubt, be held accountable. Nothing has been proven yet, we don't even know to what extent of fraud the OSC was referring to. If you're gonna post something about the law and how someone's going to get away with it, first have the facts. You don't even know if there is a fraud, if you do we would all love to know how the fraud occurred, because well not one of us knows, including you!
