LOL Chainsaw, this isn't a war between China and Canada. If anything, China has been our friend through this fiasco. They picked up the pieces of Canadian Royalties, and put a huge amount of money behind it so Canada could get the wealth from that pile of rock. No Canadian or American company stepped up to the task. That's why the Canadian government welcomed them.
JJ does not own the land, they are just extracting the minerals for us. Each province owns the mineral rights to their land, so in this case, Quebec is profiting form the deal. Unfortunately, Quebec only charges about 1/3 the royalties as the other provinces. They are giving it away. There are taxes on profits and royalties collected, hundreds of jobs provided, and infrastructure for future development established, so there are economic benefits that we could use especially in this world economy.
I feel that your anger and distrust is completely misplaced. There are many circumstances, facts, rules of law, rules of international commerce, etc, that haven't entered into any discussions here. You are commenting on scraps of information and trying to make sense of it. Sure JJ tried to dilute GBK's share, but with recent developments I can yell you that I don't trust GBK management at all. It woulddn't surprise me if GBK somehow tricked JJ through verbal promises that didn't translate into the contract. Who drew up the contract? I believe it was GBK's lawyers.
As for your other post... that's good attempt at recreating the breakdown of shareholder ownership. There are a lot of unaccounted shareholders who paid low prices for issued shares. If we indeed need a 2/3 vote to accept the offer, then you have a fighting chance. Another simpler way of calculating your odds, the "friends" of management had 59% of the popular vote at the last AGM. That means that they have about 130 million shares possibily still in their favor / pocket.
