RE: CUT THE COSTS

RE: CUT THE COSTS

Wouldn't the fact that they closed the Canpages offices imply that they were now trying to cut costs? But the media and shareholders took the closures as negative, adding more to the "Yellow Pages is doomed" rants, even some of  the pumpers took it as a negative. Yes it's sad that people lost their jobs, but from a business point of view it seems to be a good cost cutting move seeing as they were unnecessarily competing with themselves (it's also another example of why would they bother doing this if bankruptcy is guaranteed to be right around the corner). Look at Cisco last year, they were being criticized for all of their acquisitions and lacklustre sales/ forecasts, and analysts downgraded them to sell- shareholders wanted Chamber's head on a stick- then Chambers cut costs - by closing Flip and trimming their workforce by roughly 20% and now a year later they've completely turned things around and are once again loved by analysts and shareholders (and yes I know YLO and CSCO are two completely different circumstances). I'm by no means saying that Tellier deserves a chance to prove himself, I'm just saying that you never know Tellier and his new team might come up with a plausible and acceptable plan to save the company.
