Now at no cost fleet operators can accept all forms of card payment on customer drop off. Accepting card payment has been recommended by all police and RCMP throughout Canada as a means of reducing the risk of robbery.

The problem has been cost of introducing this customer service in the past. At approximately $100.00 per device it just was not justified.
Cash and credit there is no fee.
Conquest keeps the fee in exchange for all cost associated with operation of the terminal other than credit haulage, MDR, paper and any special requirements.
In the middle of a Debit purchase a small value cash back can also be offered, YOU DO NOT PUT CASH ON THE CARS FOR THIS REASON, you simple give out on cash back the fares that were paid in cash, now those cash fares have been deposited in your account within a 24hr period.
For co-op companies they have custom settlement software that makes owner settlement easy.
