Why didn't Villar settle with ABX in 2006? Now that title in 2006 was Roldolfo Villar Garcia and not JORGE R. LOPEHANDIA CORTES, let’s look what Villar’s attorney stated in 2006 (in the same article):
“…We quote from the declarations of Villar's lawyer, Hernán Montealegre, who has said that, "If there is an interesting offer, this possibility will be examined by Mr. Villar and I don't think that Barrick would commit suicide and has to be ready to pay something that comes near to the real value of this property and clean the shameful image that they have for having swindled a person by paying him 10,000 pesos and by having violated the Constitution."

What was the price of gold in 2006? Jorge told Brent Johnson that in 1997 he would settle for $1/oz of gold produced from these same mining claims, staked by Villar.
So who stopped the settlement between Villar and ABX in 2006, without Jorge is the key question? Was it ABX Corporate Attorney Patrick Garver, under direct orders from Salt Lake City? Is Jorge a secret partner to those in Utah? So that’s why Jorge demanded the $1.8 Billion payment from MWR.
This Thursday, July 06, 2006 article came right after the death of Clyde Davis (Easter weekend, April 15, 2006) and just before Phelps Dodge sold out to Freeport-McMoRan (March 19, 2007). In 1997 Freeport exposed the Bre-X Gold Scandal. Brought in by the Indonesian government, Freeport was not able to substantiate Bre-X's claims to having found the largest gold mine ever discovered; Bre-X subsequently was exposed as a fraud and went bankrupt.
