RE: RE: mski>>portfolio guidelines Thanks TimeBuilder, it's taken me personal learning from the dot com bubble, penny mining stocks to learn what not to do.
Yes 10% and 25% of total household holdings of all portflios combined (not each account). Having said that I am offside with AAPL - now being 10.3% of total assets. Although it doesn't pay a dividend I was willing to pass that up for the capital grow and good valuation on forward p/e.
Good re: REIT's and trusts in registered accounts and also US dividend paying co's (because in TFSA's you get hit with at source witholding taxes on US stocks in TFSA's - I learned the hard way with GE).
Non registered accounts - keep mainly CAD co's that pay dividends and take the Cdn dividend tax credit.
Re: PBN: it's at about 2% of the total portfolio - it's been a reasonablly recent purchase for me after listening to conference call in November vs. the early October info about the credit issues. PBN has done a very good job in my opinion to get out of the hole re: the put option on the debentures next year which has been the 'headline risk' for the company...now that they have exceeded production guidance from early Nov, sold off some non operating interests to CPG (at a relatively good price in my opinion), all good. But it's early for me in watching this company hence the reason just a 2% position.
Hope this helps, best regards, mski
