RE: RE: RIM at risk of profit warning templar73, it sounds like we might be in the same business - you'll have to inbox me - but good comment. Tech isn't my speciality but the same can be said for a lot of different sectors. Far too much weight is being placed on analyst commentary and these days, most of the analysis is as deep as a weatherman saying you might get wet after he sees it start raining. In this case, RIM has been buggered by negative analysis for quite some time and most of the analysts simply pile on. RIM is down today because of what one guy said and it won't matter if he's right or wrong because if RIM reports a shabby quarter, nobody will remember or care how accurate he was. It's really easy to "predict" a downturn once you're already in it. Tech is so volatile that I can see why nobody is willing to go against the grain but 1999 must be a distant memory to a lot of people. Not to me - I remember when the stitching started to unravel all too well.
I can see RIM being a speculative buy, but are there any surefire, firm buys in tech right now? Most of them seem undervalued or overvalued. I've been thinking about adding MSFT - Windows 8 is due out soon and I honestly think that the new Windows phones might be worth watching, not to mention - they pay a small dividend.
