RE: RE: Interesting article It's partly a political decision: the Newfoundland government wants a processing plant and related infrastructure at Labmag, and wholly within Labrador to generate tax dollars and jobs. (They hate the idea of raw ore mined from Labrador being processed outside the province--see Voisey's Bay controversy.) Therefore the processing plant has to be built first at Labmag, then the deposit at Kemag will be fed into that existing plant.

The government also seems to prefer that the pipeline run through Labrador (the new plan seems to have it running alongside the QNS&L for much of the way south).
