Band members to appeal vote

Band members to appeal vote

Band member Laura Oochoo, who campaigned against approval, was disappointed, saying Tuesday, "I think .... pretty soon, there has to be an appeal."

She said there was discrepancies and errors in the voting process, and added, "I think now is the time when we have to settle our issues at the international level."

Bellerose said the vote allows the first nation's council to apply to Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada (AAND ) to move "to the lease stage", a process that requires environmental studies and could take several years.
