So for Blue—ten GOOFBALL of the century trying to scare everyone about historic Saskatchewan flooding in 2011, eat it !
Below-normal runoff is expected for most of the Saskatchewan grain belt this spring, the Saskatchewan Watershed Authority says.
That could be good news for farmers who have been struggling with flooding in recent years.
Runoff is expected to start mid-March in the south and somewhat later in the north.
The only area of the province that isn't expecting lower-than-normal runoff is the northeastern area of the agricultural region. It's expecting to see near normal or slightly above normal runoff.
"The risk of flooding is small, though new precipitation, especially significant rainfall, could quickly change conditions in basins that are still quite wet, like the Souris basin, and result in high stream flows and cause some flooding," the Watershed Authority said in a news release.
The agency's runoff outlook is based on soil moisture conditions at freeze-up and how much snow is on the ground as of March 1.
