Mercer wins on appeal

Mercer wins on appeal

The Quebec court reversed their decision to cease trade the warrant offering clearing the way for Mercer to gain control of Fibrek. Logic prevails and now Resolute/AbitibiBowater/Fairfax will now have to get out of the way and allow the highest bidder to prevail. This is how capital markets and the court has made the correct decision.

The regulators must now move to make sure a contolling shareholder cannot abuse minority shareholders. This is what would have occured had the court made the wrong decision as was done originally. Lets call it the Fairfax clause.
