RE: RE: RE: No let up from the analysts:

Yeah, I don't see Apple buying RIM because they're doing a pretty good job of growing their business and making fistfuls of money doing what they're doing now.  Their marketing machine is nothing short of spectacular...they've got so many little pawns eating out of their hand that they actually managed to get some people in the tech media to hail the new Ipad like its anything more than just the Ipad 2 with a nicer display that ultimately no one is going to care about.  The G&M even published an early Apple Fools Joke story that the new Ipad was going to give console gaming like the PS3 or XBox problems.  I almost choked on my cereal laughing at that one until I realized the writer was actually serious.

Guys, in this sector more than any other sector, there appears to be an underground world where influence peddling is going on...the analysts who watch this sector are unbelievably bad but they all seem to have 20/20 hindsight.  Same goes with the tech media.  Unfortunately, no one holds anyone else accountable for printing half-truths, lies, and trying to pass off paid advertising as fact.  I'm sure RIM isn't innocent of this practice, but they just don't seem to do a very good job of it.  At least their PR team came out firing yesterday discussing the merits of RIM's security, but they need to hammer back at every single half truth or lie printed against them...and in some cases, like Boy Genius Report, I'd even look at legal action.  Apple will sue anyone for anything at a moment's notice...maybe RIM should hire a few lawyers and start attacking rather than always be on the defensive.

I'm glad I don't deal with the tech sector on a daily basis - I'm sure I'd go postal...lol.
