Tecogen Cogeneration SystemsTecogen Cogeneration Systems Chosen by Large National Performance Contractor for Part of a San Francisco Housing Energy Infrastructure Improvement Project
"March 15, 2012, Tecogen Inc. today announced that four Tecogen CHP (combined heat and power) units will be added to three public housing facilities in San Francisco as part of an energy infrastructure improvement project. Tecogen's units are natural-gas engine driven systems that not only deliver efficient, low-cost energy, but also meet or exceed the most stringent California emissions standards.
The cogeneration units were purchased for the project by a national, independent provider of comprehensive energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions.
"The Tecogen CHP equipment will provide the buildings with reliable, clean and cost-effective energy," said Robert Panora, Tecogen's president and chief operating officer. "Tecogen CHP units are perfect for urban housing environments because they are relatively small, quiet, and have exceptionally clean emissions. By locating power generation onsite, the customers can increase their efficiency by as much as two fold, while decreasing their carbon footprint, impact on the environment and energy related costs."
These buildings will soon be receiving electricity, heat and hot water via Tecogen CHP units operating onsite. The systems purchased comprise three Tecogen CM-60 units for outdoor placement and one Tecogen model CM-75 to be placed indoors. Previously, these public housing facilities had received all of their power from the local utilities.
Tecogen manufactures highly efficient, ultra-clean Combined Heat and Power (CHP) products including natural gas engine-driven cogeneration, air conditioning systems, and high-efficiency water heaters for industrial and commercial use. Tecogen has an installed base of more than 2,200 units, supported by an established network of engineering, sales, and service personnel across the United States.
