RE: RE: Geopolitical Risks of Somalia

RE: RE: Geopolitical Risks of Somalia

The risks are very high in Somalia. The country is ravaged by war, terrorism, corruption at all levels, greed, poverty,  prolonged famine and unhealthy conditions which many of us could not possibly bear to live in.

I for one, am very greatful that I live in a great country such as Canada.

The geopolitical issues of Somalia are very complex and will not be easily resolved with the possible discovery of oil. In fact the discovery of oil may actually exacerbate the war and continued terrorism in Somalia, much like it has in Sudan. The tribal and clan warfare will likely spread to capture the oil wealth IF and when it is discovered in Somalia.

Somalia needs a STABLE, SECURE, and DEMOCRATIC government that represents all its citizens' needs.

Unfortunately, greed, corruption, and warfare is more prevalent than goodwill towards humankind in Somalia.

I sincerely hope that the Somali people will one day find peace.

But peace comes at a grave cost.

GLTA.
