1). It is good to be capable to run "a research department at the UofT level ", That is definitely a highly challenging job.  BUT DOES THAT EQUALS TO OR EVEN SIMILAR TO A CEO OF PUBLIC COMPANY?  TOTALLY DIFFERENT JOB!

NEWTON IS GREAT SCIENTIST,  BUT DOES THAT MEAN HE MUST BE A GREAT PRESIDENT OF US, IF HE HAD GOT THE CHANCE?

2) I agree it is not a good time to make a major change in organization.  MAY BE MORE SUITABLE & PRACTICAL IS - GET SOME CONSULTANTS WHO ARE HIGHLY EXPERIENCED IN RUNNING PUBLIC COMPANY AS CEO.
