Recounting the previous week’s 10 biggest resource and economic moves on the continent, in no particular order:

  • Horn Petroleum announces new depth reached in Puntland, Somalia drilling program at the Shabeel-1 well; 2,384 Meters.
  • Libya announced it will return to top pre-war oil production level of 1.4 Million barrels per day in April.

  • Angola’s state-owned energy company Sonangol announced it may hold new oil bidding round next year.
  • DRC and Angola sign oil field exploration deals in shared maritime zone.
  • Tanzania announced a $55 Billion plan to connect Dar Es Salaam homes and institutions to a natural gas system.
  • Kenya to list eight new offshore oil and gas exploration blocks for leasing by energy firms.
  • Sudan continues push into oil-rich South Kordofan Region, setting off massive violence.
  • Spain approved Canary Islands oil exploration, off the coast of northwest Africa.
  • BP and Shell engaged in a fight to win shares in Eni’s Mozambique exploration tract.
