Toshiba Imaging is working with ISee3D on a 3-D microscope imaging system using a single Toshiba IK-HD1 high-definition CCD camera outfitted with ISee3D's single-lens 3-D technology and a customized interface. ISee3D's optical technology produces carefully aligned, perfectly matched images that can be displayed on a high-definition monitor, eliminating the eye fatigue and ocular discomfort that is associated with prolonged 3-D microscopy image viewing using dual cameras.
"After evaluating various three-chip HD cameras, we selected Toshiba's IK-HD1 high-definition three-CCD camera for our new 3-D microscope imaging system," said Tom Mitchell, CTO of ISee3D. "This camera is ideal for our purposes due to its extremely small form factor, acquisition speed, excellent color reproduction, and superior contrast and resolution, all critical factors in medical and scientific imaging."
Terry Debono, ISee3D's CEO, added, "We are finalizing our commercial 3-D microscopy system for introduction later this year. The combined technology of ISee3D and Toshiba's camera will make it easy for people to see the remarkable capabilities of this unique, single-lens, single-camera 3-D imaging system."
