Antrim Energy has signalled plans to drill on the UK Central North Sea Cyclone prospect in the third quarter of this year which lies just north of its Greater Fyne field area.

Cyclone is within licence P.1784 covering block 21/7b – which is operated by Premier Oil with 70% - and it is due to be drilled after Antrim and Premier took the decision to go ahead with the well in the third quarter this year.

Cyclone and another drilling target, designated Typhoon, are described by Antrim as Tertiary Cromarty prospects at depths of 5,000 (1,524 metres) and 5,600 feet (1,70 7 m.) respectively, and lie in a licence that was acquired with a commitment to drill one firm well.

“The Typhoon Prospect would be a probable follow up to any discovery at Cyclone,” Antrim has indicated.

Also Antrim is due to participate in drilling of the Contender prospect in the Northern North Sea in the second quarter this year.
