I remember seening the cost per ounce from Goldcorp's mine in Balmertown as the cheapest in the world, but when you looked at their cost per tonne is was one of the highest in the world. What made them look good was the grade (cutoff was 2 ounces per tonne)...
I think knowing these figures shows how you compare with other similar operations and it suggest if there is room for increased efficiency. In this case I see there is (GBN) which is a good thing...
