Was watching BNN last week. There was a technical chart guy on. Someone asked about buying gold now.

 

Chart guy said gold is very cyclical. I don't know if it's true for gold STOCKS. But he said gold is usually bad from now until July, because this is usually the time when economic news comes out to make the USD look good.  Gold is priced in USD.
