But gcoutts is right, AM is unlikely to be replaced by another supplier due to barriers to entry. It costs $ 6-7 million to set up for new designs plus AM is located 15 to 20 minutes from Ford in order to deliver parts 'on demand'. In addition the parts AM supplies for the Ford contract require a far more complicated sub assembly than what AM used to build for GM; AM cannot easily be replaced although Ford could possibly decide to do the sub-assembly in house, some time in the future.
