Seems to me I recently read that when you track the overall stock market since the 1920s, roughly 41% of your gain has come from dividends.  Paying a dividend, not just a special but a regular, is important.  It should be done when everything that is up in the air is nailed down.  A special one-time dividend would be nice, but I would not expect a regular dividend for some time just yet.
