Secondary Plateau Production Looking over the releases by stream, there appears to be an emphasis upon tertiary recovery options for achieving their long term produciton goals >10k bopd.
As this is a bit beyond my timeframe {and I'm a bit skeptical about the effectiveness/costs of WAG or thermal for what look to be fractured carbonates given the structure (anticline with high net?) and lack of a cheap miscible gas(?) <-- Only a brief observation, could be mistaken on the assets} I'm interested in what the consensus is for the potential for more common production optimization and improved/implemented secondary recovery.
The potential from simple production engineering is apparent (jet pumps, work overs, reacivations, etc). But for 2012-14, I love the res management/dev opporunities. A couple observations:
If I recall, the medium visc field has not yet been brought to 2ndary recovery (?). I struggle to see how this won't become a wonderful candidate in the near futuer (odd that it wasn't before. Rationale?)
Have they considered using simple HPAM polymer flooding (the k is above 100mD, right?) to reduce watercut and provide a substantial improvement in incremental recovery. Cross-linking polymers and ASP seem a bit off on a sunk cost basis, although I can see the potential here.
Will probably add a couple others in the future..... Any idea of what the company may be looking at achieving from only secondary recovery/IOR (non-tertiary)? I could quite easily see plateau >5-10kbopd, but would love to hear other's comments.
Note-- Many tertiary options have substiantial up front facilities and chemicals/gas costs while the response can take months to years (especially with interwell methods like ASP, miscible gas). Not the best place for a junior to play IMO
