RE: 2D vs 3D The simple difference between the two is one can determine an approximate volume level and the other cannot. With a 2D seismic, the cost is much less but can only give you an ideal depth of oil and will no show volume levels that a 3D will. In more simple terms, picture looking at a cube from only the side, you can see a square with no depth into the actual cube. With the 3D seismic, it will shown you the cube in rough form and with give an approximation for total volume. Hope this kinda helps?
