You have reminded me of a good one. I do not post on the boards of most of the stocks I play (Long or Short) but I do read them all from time to time. I had been short on BNK for a while, from over $8. The stock at that time was around $6 (If my memory serves me correctly) when someone on the board asked anyone who was short to explain their rational. It was a polite request so I broke my silence and explained to him that they had serious water issues that were growing and they were not going to go away any time in the foreseeable future.
Oh well, I was called everything but a white man. Water issues, water issues...You are a basher...You are making it up...The analysts say $20...The analysts say $20. Fast forward 9 months, it is now in the mid $3 range and still trending south because as the board just discovered from the falling production numbers that Bankers has serious.....
Goes to show you the value of deep DD and the worthlessness of analysts opinion. An analyst may be right and they may be out to lunch, but you can decide that unless you have already formulated your own opinion based on your own independant research.
People who blindly follow the analysts to make their investment decisions, will have many water issues in their future.
