There is something called confidentiality agreement which you should also get familiar with. If we follow your logic the reserves should have been calculated in public in every step so that you and I can see them as they are developed. When the management will bring to us what they have for a takeover price then you will need to know what it is that you are selling. As long as no-one party involved in this discussions trades in company shares, and the management is confident there is no leak. Then can do their accounting behind closed doors.
