RE: RE: GG and Red Lake:e "And what is the basis for such statements?"
Admittedly, the use of the word "depletion" was not the best choice. Mineralization getting harder and more costly to find is what I really meant to say. I happen to like GG so I do stand corrected.
"Best to invest on the "facts" rather than get one's "hopes" worked up over a perceived possibility?"
I stick by my comments. As evident by Iamgold's acquisition of Trelawney Mining (TRR), the M&A game is now afoot. But lest I be misunderstood, its not exactly one where investors should get their hopes up. Recent acquisitions have been using VWAP (volume weighted average price). In the case of TRR, the average utilized was for 20 days. Two months ago, the stock was trading higher than the offer price and all recent PP's have been way north of the offer price. Given that it was an all cash offer, TRR shareholders will have no future participation in what happens and as such, no means to ever recoup their losses (ie: for those sitting on shares at much higher prices).
If GG has any intentions to consolidate the Red Lake district, then NOW is the time. Stocks are down across the board and the premiums needed to close deals are at bargain basement prices.
The good news is that if nothing happens, a lot of M&A activity will infact happen. This should help the entire PM sector as investors are apt to return to the sector with what cash remains to nibble on the best propspects to be bought out.
Something like that....
