Because the date of giving out the dividends is still not know. So whoever owns the share  before the know date should receive the 10 cents.  if not  those who sold their shares already should get nothing. Say for example if I sell the share today @ 14 cents and still get the dividend later on , that means I totally receive

 24 cents for my shares which is not going to happen.  To avoid the misunderstanding, everyone should hold on to his shares and wait for the final announcement by LFD.
