Just by the numbers, AngloGold's global gold production is roughly 98,000 ounces/quarter currently, MWS is around 99,000/year or 25,000/quarter. Meaning that AngloGold would increase their gold production by minimum 25% by acquiring MWS in the long term.

Now, as of right now AngloGold's production is down quarter over quarter, what looks better, 'we lost an asset bid, our 20% stake was diluted, and our production is down' or 'production has recovered'. All we have to do is give them the option and let them choose the door. Who wants to bet they'll choose door #2 and offer a higher bid...we can't blame AngloGold for trying to take advantage of the situation and pick up MWS for so low, but there will be no one to blame but us if AngloGold manages to get MWS for 335M.
