"we may also see a competing bid, as we all know the $3.30 offer is an insult for what TRR has"

https://business.financialpost.com/2012/04/30/analysts-criticize-iamgold-acquisition/

It's funny how unbiased outsiders view the situation completely differently from TRR shareholders who only look at a $3.30 cash offer as woefully inadequate when viewed in the context of higher prices from previously issued financings.

Some gems from the article which suggest just take the cash offer and be relieved you attracted a sucker to ante up:

"“We are of the view that this does not improve Iamgold’s investment thesis and largely removes its balance sheet flexibility and options,” TD Securities analyst Steven Green wrote in a note. He called the deal a “missed opportunity” to acquire something better.

“We expressed concerns about what [Iamgold] might do with its cash. Now that we have seen what interests the company, we are not very impressed,” Mr. Allan wrote.

Meanwhile, David Haughton of BMO Capital Markets calculated the transaction as being 7% dilutive to Iamgold’s net present value per share. Using a metric called “total cost of acquisition” (or the total cost to extract each ounce of gold from the project), he estimated that Iamgold is paying US$1,157 per ounce of gold"
