a follow up just a follow up to my previous posts where I contacted my MP about the availability of Econiche in the battle against ecoli...
I recieved an email from Georges Dapont....president of the CFIA, thru my MP who wrote on my behalf.
Mr. Dapont says he is aware that a vaccine is licensed in Canada and is available to farmers as a way to help control ecoli......but goes furthur to say that it must be part of an overall strategy to control ecoli and that the vaccine alone will not solve the problem......but will aid in the solution. He cites things like food processing plants, feed storage, feed and watering practices, manure handling etc.
To quote him, "the availability of the vaccine adds an additional tool that can contribute, along with other husbandry methods, to control e.coli 0157:H7 prevalence."
So, for what its worth, I assume (and I hate to use that word) hes referring to Econiche....and he admits it could be an effective tool in the fight against ecoli. I'm quite happy that my MP and staff chased this down for me. regards, cheapie
