Grassroots Opposition

Very funny, Elgin1.  Actually, I was trying to point out the dangers of transporting the huge quantities of sulfuric acid required for in-situ mining.  On January 31, 2012 there was a hazardous chemical incident not far from here on SR 77 between Winkleman and Globe where a tanker truck loaded with sufuric acid leaked the acid on to the highway and closed it for hours.  In addition to the sulfuric acid, there are at least 10 other toxic chemicals that will be shipped to Florence on Hunt Highway and stored on-site in a tank farm.  The large number of tanker trucks using the two-lane highway and the tank farm they'll be stored in certainly won't be unobtrusive; but Curis says you'll hardly know they're there.  Sure.  Also, maybe you should ask Curis why they publicly told many people before their zoning change was denied, including a State Senator, that it wouldn't be financially feasible to mine just the State land and then, after the denial, they suddenly decided they could make a go of mining only that small, 160-acre plot.  Do you think it has anything to do with trying to inflate their stock price and not scare off their investors?  Also, as an investor, I sure would be skeptical of a company that gives away 25% or more of its production over the life of the project just to get $40 million to run a short-term production test facility on 160 acres.
