RE: RE: QE3 and Euro(reply)... If Germany is unhappy with the Euro and the Eurobond, instead of jerking everyone around asking them to leave the Euro, why does not leave the Euro herself and let the other members fend for themselves. The reason is that Germany does not want to go it alone for that would trigger another conflict in the continent. Germany is suffering from clostophobia, the feeling of being boxed in geographically, and it is , but it does not want to be boxed in also politically and economically for that was the reason that forced Germany to start two world wars. The European project was not a well-thought out from the start. The idea of a united Europe was appealing to all but the "how to" was not very clear. So they all agreed that they had to start somewhere and the introduction of the Euro was the starting point with the proviso that whatever problems emerged in the process, they would deal with it. And that is where Europe is at this point. They try to figure out what kind of social institutions need to put in place to save the original project. The only problem is that events run ahead of them and the powers are very slow to react, especially Germany, due in part to confilcting "national interests" a gost which is haunting Europe from its past.
