Interesting possibility. There is a good recent analysis of Allied Nevada here https://seekingalpha.com/article/531311-allied-nevada-gold-it-s-a-gold-mine . Their market cap of $2.56b against 2011 production of 104,002 oz Au is a nice reminder of the potential here. Presumably a takeover offer from them would be mostly in the form of a share swap, but I suspect a bidding war would ensue as even
.90/share is a low-ball offer.
