The negative earnings was because of non-cash accounting adjustment for the warrants converting between US and Canadian dollars. IFRS accounting standard, happens to other companies as well when warrants are in different currency.
Chivo wasn't producing earnings so shutting it down shouldn't have big affect on earnings. They're gradually increasing production from other two mines. They have 6 months to increase production from these two until other new mines come into production. And they're "aggressively drilling". So it's not exactly the case that nothing is happening.
Where did you hear they were looking to make an acquisition? If anything, bigger companies would be looking to acquire them. Like today Yamana acquiring Extorre for fraction of what they use to trade at. Prices are so cheap now whatever is acquired is a bargain.
