Which part of MINUS didnt you see? Minus means substract, it means remove x apples from the apple lot like in Kindergarten

 

When you factor in VALUE you do not add production cost etc... as the same with mining gold/nickel etc... 

 

You only factor product/base/interest, no production cost no taxes AKA G-R-O-S-S

 

Can you give me a G? Can you give me a R, Can you give me an O, Can you give me a S, Can you give me another S?

 

Gross = base

Net = TOTAL

 

You use Gross to value not NET..
