RE: geodude13 a question for you Farml
There is a project that could be twinned to do that what you refer to but it would need a lot of adjusting. Take a look at this link and there could be pipeline project proposal that runs parrallel between Canada and Alaska. That would take a lot or regulatory work as the pipeline crosses national boundaries. I know it was discussed but is secondary to the Kitimat proposal 9see below). Here is the link for

There are a lot of seismic issues as the Canadian Cordillera as it is tectonically active. Here is a link that comes from a school report but it is a introduction to the region. It is ecological sensitve and a very climatically harsh region. Inputs for NGOs to react adverely.

But the real challenges lie with stakeholder concerns...have a read of this Vancouver article on nthe Northern Gateway project. The same issues revolve around a NG pipeline crossing BC.

Last thing to consider is there already is a made in Canada project to move NG to a liquification facility on the west coast. Valdez may be out on logistics and cost. If any project goes this one has financial backing and very large multinationals pushing for the Kitimat LNG facility...its already in hearings...it'll likely go within the next five to ten years.

Just remember that any proposal crosses numberous traditional lands for aboriginals (under and out of treaty) and the land is largely ecologically sensitive and darn it it is so pretty.....folks just don't want to see a pipeline cutting across those beautiful mountains and rivers....silly really as this is a nation building project and such a small footprint. It's very easy for people to vote and have opinions from the easy chair....
