I know, the bid/ask is pure fiction - just market makers and institutions swapping shares with each other, killing time, trying to scalp pennies from each other and keep up some illusion of volume.  I was required to sell a small quantity yesterday (unfortunately, and partly why I'm so bitter about VTR and the whole sector) and the bid was 3 lots at .62, and next I think at .60.  I had asked .64 but it was near end-of-day and I couldn't wait so I dropped to .62 - the order was filled before I could get back to the position overview.  So much for level 2 bids and asks...

 

I've seen it so many times, across so many different companies, here and on the US exchanges.  I don't know why there are even regulators for the markets, just creates a false sense of security.  Better for everybody if they new them for the midway carny games they are (although those games are probably more fair than the equity markets).
