NYSE listing
Regarding the financing, some people think the company pulled a fast one. I think the financing was actually more half fast. (say that quickly a couple of times). Certainly the timing was quite unfortunate.
The U.S. lists the big precious metal companies, (the HUI’s) and a number of the mid tier. They also have some explorers, but not many.
The Toronto Stock Exchange and TSX Venture Exchange are home to 58% of the world's public mining companies with 201 new mining listings. (as of 2009)
Almost half (46.2%) of Canada’s mining assets abroad (CMAA) are located in three countries:
- Mexico (185 Canadian companies represented with $18.3 billion);
- Chile (48 companies with $16.5 billion); and
- the United States (263 companies with $15.5 billion).

A United States listing could well prove to be a very good thing for GV’s share price. It’s been a peeve of mine, (too small to be a pet), that the fact that Canada, has the large preponderance of precious metal explorers, but they’re not much noticed by the rest of the investing world. I read somewhere that one in two Canadian investors own shares in at least one mining company. Here in the US, it’s a small fraction of that. (Little wonder that the TSX and the Venture are so manic, since a relatively small population supports, (or doesn’t), the preponderance of the world’s mining explorers)
Since so many companies are headquartered in Canada, not much exposure gets done in the USA, unless they are major mining companies. Down here in the states people have to buy Canadian shares on the OTC . The OTC stands for Over the Counter, the name of which must give the willies to lot would-be investors. (much less that the OTC was also called the ‘pink sheets’ , another wonderful call for confidence.)
I don’t know how many small gold explorers with excellent properties in the US are listed on the US exchanges, but there aren’t many. For example you can check out the following sites, (though by no means complete.)

A well thought out, good marketing/information campaign in the US could work wonders for the share price. (too bad they didn’t try one pre-financing.) Last month GSV paid about $5000 for an ad in Resource World magazine which, to me, is pitching to the choir. For the same money they could get a nice ad in Forbes, or similar publications.
With far more money and investors, and far fewer golden tickets to ride, U.S. investing in GSV via the NYSE could be splendid, if Gold Standard continues on as they have been.
Perhaps similar to a former U.S. listed explorer , AMEX:FRG, Fronteer Gold? Dream on.
