RE: RE: $2-$3 Per Indo Well Interesting. If you know that they are drilling at 5 ft/hr then that suggests control drilling to aid in prevention of differential sticking of the drill string again through these sands. The original penetration rate before the drilling break was 16 ft/r.
I don't think there will be news immediately on Jatayu but they will continue with their drilling program as business as usual. I guess that anything material will be shown along with some future Thailand news. I also believe that since this an exploration well, they will not drill to the primary target but log and case this well above the Parigi formation. I don't think that these long open sands should be left open and exposed as they go into primary target. I don't believe there is enough offset well information to give anyone any confidence as to what pressures to expect in the primary target zone with the upper sands exposed. I think it would be prudent to case the well above the Parigi formation. To case the well above the primary target would eliminate some very real risk that could be extremely problematic and very expensive. This is my opinion based on the fact that I know nothing about the area and because of that lack of understanding of those formations I become a worrier; but there is a lot to be said about safety where this is concerned. In fact, the company seems to be looking at the idea of testing the well after the arbitrary drill depth of 6000'. I assume it will be a production test with casing set. A drill stem test would almost certainly prove to be disasterous in this open hole. Also, because of these sands, the company is looking to review personnel and well design, according to the last operations update. This zone may have come up as somewhat of a pleasant surprise and has prompted the necessity for changes.
The bonus of setting production casing below these sands is that we will see what this formation has to offer us.
