Whats the point of buying before th ex-dividend date then if the stock drops 10 cents automatically on ex-dividend date anyway to adjust. What a waste... there isn't much difference from buying the next day at around 10 cents less (same as the divy), unless the stock opens up higher right away which it hasn't.

Haven't been involved with dividend stocks much in the past, and after this experience I don't see much benefit to them at all. Thoughts?
