Rainy River is a gold mine located in Northwestern Ontario, Canada, approximately 65 kilometers (km) northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario. The New Afton mine is located approximately 10 km west of Kamloops, approximately 350 km northeast of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Randall Oliphant, Executive Chairman of New Gold Inc., is pleased to announce the appointment of The Honourable David L. Emerson to its Board of Directors.

Mr. Emerson has extensive experience in Canada’s public and private sectors. With the Government of Canada, he has served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of International Trade, and Minister of Industry. In the private sector, Mr. Emerson was the President and CEO of Canfor Corporation, President and CEO of the Vancouver International Airport, and Chairman and CEO of Canadian Western Bank. He currently serves on the Boards of Maple Leaf Foods Inc. (Chairman), Finning International Inc., Stantec Inc. and Postmedia Networks Inc.

Mr. Emerson received Bachelor of Economics and Master of Economics degrees from the University of Alberta, and a Ph.D. in Economics from Queen’s University.

New Gold is an intermediate gold mining company with a portfolio of four producing assets and two significant development projects. New Gold’s shares are traded as NGD on the Toronto and NYSE MKT stock exchanges.
