First because upon final approval they have to pay out $1M to Teck (I believe) before even putting a shovel in the ground.... it's peanuts in the bigger picture, but when the markets are fragile and you still have Cantung resources to run through why would push this through and incur that expense. The other issue is of course the whole resource issue at Cantung. This property has still not been fully explored much less facing depletion. Further drilling and definition may extend the life of this mine property out for many years to come. That may entail further regulatory processes and approval, but is easier than launching Mactung. Teck is still mining their Trail deposit and my God how much have they taken out of there over the years. These two properties NTC has, have the potential to biuld into a world class resource, especially if there are other minerals (such as the copper they are already extracting) to be miled in the future.
