in my experience (and this may not be the same as others)...BUT! when down half it is not usually smart to sell. I have watched friends sell stock when down half..only to watch those same stocks rise back to equal before going higher usually. the market is a cruel place..but generally those with patience (and money to spare) will win out in the end. i have been watching a few of my dads stocks lately..i called him as one was up on massive volume and riding higher on the bollingers than normal. he sold at a profit..after buying this stock yrs ago and realising a loss of 50% on his position..he was down for 4 yrs but didnt need the money....he made a profit last week and sold out. Patience generally pays off at some point. but if you really need the money now...then hey :)
