RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: Gold to reach... The break even for Tasiast was around $1425 per Kinross. I think that was stated in the news release when they had to write down Tasiast. When gold is $100 or so above that figure that is not zero margin, but neither is it a comfortable enough margin to comnmit to spending billions of dollars on. This is one of the main reasons Kinross' stock has gone down so much in value. Anyways, in answer to your question of where my theory came from, the answer is Kinross.
As far as being profitable no argument there. Except of course for the huge writedown of Tasiast. Also, keep in mind that all expenses related to Tasiast are capitalized and will continue to be so till they reach commercial production ( At least as far as the expansion goes)
We may not need miracles to see a higher share price but better cost controls and a higher gold price would certainly help.
