long hole stoping is an underground mining method mentioned as a goal in the webcast. This involves long-hole drilling the selected orebody and blasting it into a huge cone, with several drawpoints at the bottom. If the blast breaks properly, a scoop operator can load, haul and dump 24/7 for years.
This is tremendously cheaper than drilling and blasting a 7 or 8 foot lift, then shotcreting, screening, shotcreting and backfilling, then repeating the process. Takes a little longer to drill 6" holes rather than 1.5, once the development access points are complete, but it pays off big time in the end.
