Risky: Normally these trades are done with the use of the 'buy all or nothing' or 'sell all or nothing' criteria to avoid that kind of situation.

I would be very surprise to see either one selling AT MARKET or BUYING at market without any protection.

So to think that DL had to buy more does not apply.
