Gas production from KG-D6 field (August 13-19, 2012): Output falls below 28 MMSCMD even as BP-RIL are hard at work |
Sept 1: BP and RIL are hard at work in the D-6 block but production continues its inexorable downward climb. When and how the decline will be arrested remains a moot point. 8The field was meant to produce 80 mmscmd of gas at this point of time, but production has now fallen below 28 MMSCMD. There is no change as yet on the official projection that output will reach the 20 MMSCMD mark by 2014-15. 8According to the latest data, the average production of D-6 gas during the last week of August (August 13-19, 2012) was about 27.91 MMSCMD and, as the projections clearly show, the trend is going to continue to be negative. The following is an update on the production status of RIL`s D1, D3 and MA fields in the KG-D6 block as on August 20, 2012: 8Gas production at D1 and D3 gas fields and MA oil field: --The average gas production in the period between August 13-19, 2012, was about 27.91 MMSCMD. --Of this, 22.21 MMSCMD was produced from the D1 and D3 fields and another 5.70 MMSCMD was produced from the MA field. 8Gas sales: --The gas sales figures during August 13-19, 2012, stood at 27.91 MMSCMD, of which approximately 14.72 MMSCMD was sold to fertilizer plants and another 10.24 MMSCMD to power plants. The remaining 2.95 MMSCMD was consumed by the LPG sector and RGTIL's gas transportation pipeline. --Based on the current gas off-take and estimated future nominations, gas sales for the week commencing from August 20, 2012, is projected to be 27.8 MMSCMD. 8Oil production from MA field: The current rate of oil and gas production from the MA field is as follows: --Average oil production from the well was at 8,909 barrels per day. During the week, increased water production was observed in the wells. --The average condensate production at the onshore terminal was about 1,186 barrels per day. |
Gas production from KG-D6 field (August 13-19, 2012): DGH changes tune |
Sept 1: Disturbing signs of high water loading seem to pushing down the gas production at RIL`s showcase D-6 field. 8In the D1 and D3 field, out of the 50 wells approved in the Phase-I of the field development plan, 18 wells have been drilled and completed so far. 8Of the 18 wells, only 12 wells were in production between August 13-19, 2012 as six wells (A2, A6, A10, B1, B2 and B13) had to be kept closed due to high water cut and sanding issues. 8There seems to be a stubtle change in the postion of the DGH: it is no longer insisting that more wells to be drilled according to what was promised. Instead, the regulator is willing to listin. One reason why it is doing so is because RIL`s aprtner BP, with the world`s best deepwater technology, is doing the talking. Decks are now being cleared to allow an exploratory well instead of pushing for development wells. 8In the MA oil & gas field, so far six wells -- five oil producers and one gas injection cum gas producer -- were drilled, completed and put on production. 8Of these, four wells are on production and two oil wells, namely, MA-6H and MA-7H, have been shut down due to water loading, observation and monitoring purposes. 8With no new drilling planned immediately, the output can go only downhill from here on unless action is taken to restart the shut wells. |
