RE: RE: August FORD numbers
The Canadian Auto Workers is warning its membership they must be prepared to shut down the Canadian operations of Ford, General Motors, and Chrysler if a deal is not met with at least one of the automakers by the union’s strike deadline of Sept. 17. Workers at all three automakers have delivered strong strike mandates to their leadership if a deal cannot be reached by then.
“It is our hope and intention to reach an agreement with at least one of the three companies before the deadline,” the CAW said in a leaflet circulated at the Detroit Three’s plants across the country. “We must be prepared though to shut down operations at all three, should we be unable to reach an agreement.”
The CAW said its negotiating committees have made little progress over the last week despite ongoing talks with the automakers.
