Sales of RIM's phones.

Sales of RIM's phones.

RIM sell through of phones in the last  four (4) Quarters were 50.8M

( Q1 2013 10.5M + Q4 2012 13.6M  + Q3 2012 13M + Q2 2012 13.7M )

Sell through is the amount sold by the Carriers to the retailed customers.

RIM shipped (sold) to the Carriers in the same period 43.6M phones.

This shipped amount is recorded as Sales

We seen here, that RIM shipped less phones than actually sold to the public

This difference of 7.2M were taken out of the channel inventory held by the Carriers.

RIM's intention is clearly to reduce shelf-space to accomodate the new

BB10 phones - the transition period

This reduction in shipment is what causing RIM's revenue to drop.

However the big shipment in Q4 2013 (January) will push the Revenue way up.

Likewise the Analysts are banking on Apple to ship 10 to 12M iphones5 in Sept,

which will boost its Revenue but don't necessarily means that the public will buy them.

RIM selling over 50M phones in their worst year is remarkable !

only my opinion
